"Taboo and pseudo science are good friends"; "free speech" and "critical thinking" cannot join them

"Taboo and pseudo science are good friends"; "free speech" and "critical thinking" cannot join them.

Taboo

What is a Taboo?

Based on wikipedia, it is:

taboo, also spelled tabu, is a social group's ban, prohibition, or avoidance of something (usually an utterance or behavior) based on the group's sense that it is excessively repulsive, offensive, sacred, or allowed only for certain people.[1][2] Such prohibitions are present in virtually all societies.[1] Taboos may be prohibited explicitly, for example within a legal system or religion, or implicitly, for example by social norms or conventions followed by a particular culture or organization.

Pseudo Science

What is Pseudo Science?

Based on wikipedia, it is:

Pseudoscience consists of statements, beliefs, or practices that claim to be both scientific and factual but are incompatible with the scientific method.[Note 1] Pseudoscience is often characterized by contradictory, exaggerated or unfalsifiable claims; reliance on confirmation bias rather than rigorous attempts at refutation; lack of openness to evaluation by other experts; absence of systematic practices when developing hypotheses; and continued adherence long after the pseudoscientific hypotheses have been experimentally discredited.[4] It is not the same as junk science.[7]

Pseudo Science needs Taboo

Do you see why Taboo and pseudoscience are good friends?

Pseudoscience claims need the Taboo's banning culture to help them to survive. Without the Taboo's banning culture, people could debunk pseudoscience claims easily with just objective scientific evidences.

Pseudo Science hates Free Speech and Critical Thinking

What is Free Speech:

Based on wikipedia, it is:

Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction.

What is Critical Thinking:

Based on wikipedia, it is:

Critical thinking  is the analysis of available factsevidenceobservations, and arguments in order to form a judgement by the application of rationalskeptical, and unbiased analyses and evaluation.

By looking at the definition of these terms, no wonder Pseudo Science and Taboo are good friends. Free Speech and Critical Thinking are definitely could't play well with them.

In fact, Pseudo Science will see Free Speech and Critical Thinking as its real enemy! It will do the best to kill (aka ban) them.

What's your side? Who do you play with?

If I have to pick a side, I will go with Critical Thinking and Free Speech instead of Pseudo Science.

Of course, we are living in a free world. Feel free to join Pseudo Science if that's really what you want but plese don't bully Free Speech and Critical Thinking. It won't make Pseudo Science right.

I know that some site does not support Thinking.... ops.. Thinking icon, but please do respect people who has it as you may see similar banning, groupthink culture in some on-line discussion forum. Don't bully them. Critial thinking is getting rare and rare now, let's help to protect it.

Enjoy.
